摘要：A reversible wedge gripping assembly is provided for elongated objects, suchas cables or bars, comprising an elongated casing which is open at both ends and whichdefines a passage adapted for receiving said elongated object, and a first pair of wedge-shaped clamping jaws, which are mounted in the passage of the casing for gripping saidelongated object. Each of the two clamping jaws has, in its inner surface a longitudinalgroove having two flat side walls which converge towards the bottom of the groove andeach of which makes a predetermined angle with the plane in which the two clampingjaws move. A second pair of clamping jaws is disposed in the longitudinal grooves of thefirst pair of clamping jaws, each of the clamping jaws of the second pair comprising anouter surface which, in cross section, has a V section and which is in contact with one ofthe two side walls of the groove of one of the two clamping jaws of the first pair and withone of the two side walls of the groove of the other clamping jaws of the first pair.
