Bulkhead cleaning flow chart

1) Number bulkhead that will be cleaning on each times for Tellabs circuit pack is 10 EA/Times and Flip

flop of Connector must be open for IPA and DI water can be through for cleaning inside Bulkhead 2) Put the sample into the glass beager. Put the beager with samples in the ultrasonic cleaner. Clean

with IPA for 15 minutes. The ultrasonic cleaner must be turned on when the samples are moved from the beager. 3) Put sample into DI water for 5 minutes total 3 cycle time as repeat 4) Use air gun to cleaning for dry sample

5) Put sample into oven at 70 C duration 30 minutes

6) Put the clean sample into clean tray and cover with plastic to protect dust

Connector with Oil Residue

shows a connector with an oil residue that needs cleaning.

Connector with Scratches

shows a connector with scratches. These scratches are not detrimental to the endface and does not clean off.

But, deep scratches that appear to cross the fiber-optic core can cause signal loss.

Connector with Chipped Cladding and Excessive Epoxy

shows a connector with damage to the cladding. Cleaning cannot remove damaged cladding.

A small amount of epoxy around the cladding is allowable, but this shows

excessive epoxy around the cladding that does not clean off.

This connector must be replaced.

Damaged Connector

shows a 1.25 mm ferrule that has been over chamfered.

The connector must be replaced.
