摘要：A system and method for receiving data and commands from a telephone aredescribed. The system receives a signal (such as a DTMF signal) from a telephone. Thesystem identifies a symbol (i.e., a key) associated with the signal, and determines aduration of the signal. Then, the system stores the symbol and duration in a queue. Thereceived signals are preferably processed by service processors. The service processorstranslate the received signals according to their respective symbols and durations withreference to a translation table. These service processors provide interactivetelecommunication services to telephone users. Also described is a calculator serviceprocessor that provides a calculator service to telephone users. The calculator serviceprocessor translates some of the signals as operands, and others of the signals asoperators. The calculator service processor preferably translates these received signalsaccording to their respective symbols and durations. The calculator service processorapplies the operands to the operators to thereby perform mathematical operations.
