We Are What We Read
Nowadays, people pay more and more attention to reading. As someone pointed out, reading makes people progress. On the Reading Day in 29th April, many celebrities encouraged the public to read more classics. Why did they recommend the classics? In my opinion, there are so many diversifications of books that the citizens may not have the idea about how to choose a good book. It is a short cut for them to pick up the classics. Why do we need to put much emphasis on the choices of book? This is because we are what we read. The reasons are as follows.
Firstly, what we read can influence our views on life. It is common that many problems have sprung up along with our growth. People who solve these problems with their parents' help are lucky dogs or we will get very upset and feel at sea. However, we can find solutions from books especially good books whatever troubles we meet at puberty or in career. In current society, having virtuous values is of great importance because the money worship and hedonism have spread up every nook and corner. Some girls prefer to find a sugar daddy rather than work hard to make a living. They may as well rely on reading to build up their values again.
Secondly, what we read has great effects on upgrading personal ideological and ethical standards. We have been learning \"Lun Yu\" from childhood until we grow up which has been adopted for thousands of years on education. We know what we should do on different occasions by reading Lun Yu which is another way
to learn etiquettes by ourselves. As life is getting better and better, more Chinese can afford overseas travels while we have a bad reputation due to uncivilized behaviors abroad. It goes without saying that we should act well when we go abroad.
Finally, what we read can improve our skills. There is no doubt that you read computer-related books if you want to be a computer genius. Whatever you want to be, you can realize it by reading.
From what has been discussed above, we are decided by what we read in a large sense. Only if we read more classics will we have a better life. As Bacon said, Knowledge is powerful. So please read good books as long as you live.
