摘要：A torque converter preventive of engaging and disengaging shock when atransmission torque suddenly changes, includes a lockup clutch assembly, a lockup clutchpiston operating the lockup clutch assembly, and a damper device disposed between thelockup clutch piston and an output shaft for absorbing changes of transmission torqueoccurring in association with the operation of the lockup clutch assembly. The lockupclutch piston is made of steel and arranged with a thermally treated portion placed at asurface in contact with springs of the damper device, and the thermally treated portion ishardened after locally melted by high density energy radiation such as electron beam.
