摘要：A polarizable electrode to be used in an electric double layer capacitor, whichhas an excellent depressing effect on the generation of gas, is coated on the surfacethereof with a thin film layer of a gelling organic polymer compound whose thickness isless than 5 μm. As the gelling organic polymer compound, organic polymer compounds
having —COO— bonds, or preferably acrylic polymers, can be used. Specific examplesthereof include polyalkyl methacrylate or polyalkyl acrylate, which are capable offorming a stereocomplex. Among these, poly(methyl methacrylate) is preferable.Polyvinylidene fluoride resins can also be preferably used. It is preferable that anelectrical double layer capacitor include a pair of polarizable electrodes and a separatordisposed therebetween and that at least one of the pair of polarizable electrodes be theabove-described polarizable electrode having an excellent depressing effect on the gasgeneration.
